]]>The first 2 generations of the BMW 1 series sold well being RWD despite 99% of hatchbacks being FWD. The MG4 has provisions for the front end to be driven given the X power has 4WD but if it is the same platform it makes sense to keep the motor in the rear for simplicity and packaging as it's already packaged to be in the rear.
