XXiaomi built a reputation for manufacturing cheap tech gadgets…yes, some of their phones are nowadays priced at apple and huawei levels but I think they are looked upon as manufacturer of cheaper goods and hence their pricing strategy?? besides ofcourse the cut throat pricing in china…they will need to build solid reputation for 2-3 years before raising their prices i guess…those orders could disappear if problems occur with their cars…

I was going to say $5000 more per model for a nice healthy margin but totally agree.

Xiaomi should sell their products at a true HONEST price including margin. It wouldn't have changed sales a bit and demonstrate what the fair playing field looks like.

Every car sold out for one year and still they are going low with the price .

Mind-boggling

Whilst Xiaomi might be a relatively new brand in the automotive sector, it is, compared to Xpeng, a well-established name. Over a decade ago, Xiaomi achieved immense success by launching its range of affordable yet high-quality smartphones. By contrast, before it ventured into car manufacturing, the Xpeng brand was largely unknown.

From an accounting standards perspective, Xiaomi is unable to recognise deposits as profit.

With such long waiting times, did they perhaps count the deposits in the profits (for not yet produced/delivered cars?)?
Their numbers are very impressive, as compared to xpeng's just released numbers, to compare:
Xpeng delivered over 100k cars (vs xiaomi's ~81K), and had a loss per vehicle ~520-640 usd.
